What is an Elmer you ask?
An “Elmer” is an experienced amateur radio operator who serves as a mentor to newcomers in the hobby, offering advice, guidance, and support. The term is derived from the name of a character in a book called “The Radio Boys,” published in 1922, who acted as a mentor to the main characters.
